I am a creative nerd so when new tech comes out I have to drool a little, it’s in my make up.

So the new MacBook Air is here, all 11″ & 2.3 pounds of it. It’s small light and powerful and only 2″ bigger than the iPad, so why … there is a big reason why you would have one over the other, or like me you want both. (I have to speak to my adviser, my wife first).

I will not go into detail here because this post is about showcasing the Air not comparing.

Leanback is a new way to experience YouTube on a big screen. They named it “Leanback” so the viewer could do just that: kick back and, with as little effort as possible, enjoy hours upon hours of YouTube videos. When you go to www.youtube.com/leanback, you’ll notice that videos start playing immediately, are always presented in full screen and HD (when available), and you can easily browse using just the arrow keys on your keyboard.

Just start typing and a search bar appears, press enter and you have a selection of top rated videos to choose from on a bottom scrolling navigation.

If your one of these parents who has to travel a lot and you don’t get to spend as much time with the young folk as you would have wished then this ‘MIGHT’ be the product for you..
You can load a message on it so… in their words:

I think they are sweet and my kid would like one for say 30 mins then get bored of it. I think a coversation over the phone or a skype call is the best way to go.. but make your own mind up… neat gimmick.

This Mirror is being marketed as a ‘Mirror reflects our fantasies‘ , it’s a nice bit of kit, but come on…

The mirror acts as a portal so you can check flight status, your mail, the weather etc, all this data can be access via the cloud as well.
The big fail in my view is the lack of touch screen, I can see why you wouldn’t want to smear your lovely mirror, but surely there is anti smear tech out there, using the controller (looks like a TV remote) or your smart phone feels clumsy to me.

It also checks ‘your health data‘, ermm, I think they mean weight, you know like a normal scales would.

Facebook may extend its Facebook Places social location service to allow people to check-in to entertainment, says the social network’s VP EMEA Joanna Shields.

“Just like you could check-in to a location, theoretically you could check-in to a TV show that you’re watching,” she told the MIPCOM conference in Cannes this afternoon.

Seriously though, this is great news, I have been talking about this for a while, TV viewing with integrated online social behavior.
At home my wife and I both watch TV, but guaranteed she will be on the laptop and I will be on my iPad at the same time, of course there will still be a need for multiple devices because we interact with different content, but its a big move forward.

Move aside traditional TV the future is coming.
